Event set for Sept. 26-28
WASHINGTON D.C. — The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
(USHCC) will host its 2021 National Conference this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sept.
26-28. The event is the largest gathering of its kind in the Hispanic community
and serves as the meeting ground for thousands of community leaders and advocates;
elected and appointed officials; our national network of more than 260
affiliated Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; members of the corporate,
philanthropic, and academic communities; entrepreneurs; college students and
more. This will be the 42nd Annual USHCC National Conference.
"The State of Nevada is eager to welcome the U.S.
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's National Conference this September. Nevada has
worked hard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure we reopened safely and
responsibly - with strong protections in place for workers and visitors,"
said Governor Steve Sisolak. "In Nevada, our diverse culture and community
is our strength, and I am glad that the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
recognizes that and is bringing thousands of Hispanic leaders to the Silver
State," he added.
This will be the first time in the USHCC’s 42-year history
as a national small business association advocating for Hispanic-owned
businesses that the Annual National Conference will be held in the Silver
State. While Latinos comprise 18.3% of the U.S. population, Latinos are
responsible for 78% of the growth of the U.S. labor force since 2008, according
to a recent report from the Latino Donor Collaborative.
At our USHCC Legislative Summit this past March, U.S.
Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen said in her remarks, “If history is any
guide, Hispanic-owned businesses will drive a large portion of the [economic]
recovery. From 2007-12, the number of Latino-owned businesses grew by 3.3%. It
doesn’t sound like much until you see that non-Latino-owned businesses declined
by 3.6% during the same period. I’m confident Hispanic entrepreneurs can lead
us out of crisis again. Hispanic workers can power our recovery — potentially
in an even bigger way than a decade ago — so long as we remove some of the
longstanding barriers that have been in the way of prosperity.”
“The mission of the USHCC is to build an ecosystem to
accelerate Hispanic business growth and prosperity and we do this through
developing better access and innovation to capital, capacity-building, and
connections for America’s 4.7 million Hispanic-owned businesses. Our number one
goal is to rebuild confidence in our economy and to provide our Hispanic-owned
businesses with the tools that they need to create wealth for their families,”
said Alice Rodriguez, USHCC board chair and head of community impact and managing
director for JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Latinos account for 30% of the population in Nevada and
Nevada has the sixth-largest share of Latino eligible voters nationwide. The
Latino community in the United States represents an annual economic impact of
$2.6 Trillion.
“The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is excited
to host our 2021 National Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, a state and city
fueled by the economic power, tenacity, and resilience of Hispanic-owned
businesses,” said Ramiro A. Cavazos, USHCC president and CEO. “We are a
nationwide network led by our Hispanic Chambers of Commerce and the gold
standard of economic empowerment of our small businesses is led by Peter
Guzman, president and CEO of the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Nevada. We are
proud and honored to host our largest event of the year in one of the largest
Latino communities in America. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff,
we are thankful to community leaders in Las Vegas and across Nevada for the
warm welcome, and we are excited to host our largest annual conference yet in
the Entertainment Capital of the World,” added Cavazos.
Three days of more than 25 workshops, exciting keynote
speakers, engagement from local, state, and federal government officials,
informative plenary sessions, and inspiring remarks from leading business
experts across several fields are at the center of a Conference experience that
seeks to inform and empower our community and spotlight the integral role of
Latinos politically, economically and socially.
"To come out of the devastating COVID-19 pandemic and
immediately be selected as the U.S. host for the 2021 USHCC Annual National
Conference is just a great honor for our wonderful city and speaks wonders
about the Latin Chamber and how very far we’ve come as a vibrant organization
here in Nevada. Furthermore, Las Vegas is the Sports & Entertainment
Capital of the World and this event will shine a bright light on all we have to
offer," said Peter Guzman, President of the Latin Chamber of Commerce
Nevada.
The conference will also feature the participation of the
nation’s leading elected officials and presidential appointees who will connect
with an audience of more than 1,000 national stakeholders representing the
fastest growing demographic in America—Latinos.
