CBRE is the first commercial real estate company to achieve membership in BDR

With its induction, CBRE received the distinction as the first commercial real estate company to achieve membership in BDR.

In 2020, the company pledged to spend at least $1 billion per year with diverse suppliers and to increase its annual spend to at least $3 billion by the end of 2025. Already in 2023, it spent more than $2.2 billion with diverse suppliers, including those that are certified as owned by underrepresented groups — racial and ethnic minorities, women, Indigenous people, service veterans, LGBTQ+ individuals and people with disabilities.

Based in Dallas, Texas, CBRE manages extensive supply chains for its own operations, as well as for its global client base — representing one of the largest third-party spends in the commercial real estate industry. The company has more than 130,000 employees serving clients in more than 100 countries.

This global leader in commercial real estate services and investments approaches supplier diversity by intentionally seeking out and partnering with diverse suppliers not only to drive innovation and competitiveness, but also to contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable business landscape that benefits everyone involved.

In remarks during the induction event, CBRE’s Adam Boal, senior vice president and global head of procurement, said increasing the amount of goods and services the company purchases from diverse and underrepresented suppliers for both its companies and its clients is one of the most impactful actions it can make.

“We hope to energize our efforts to both increase the size of our diverse supplier spend and bring more talented diverse vendors into our program,” he said. “We see this [expansion] as a win-win.”

Boal introduced Oliver Turman, director of international procurement operations, as CBRE’s BDR representative.
