Our Vision and Philosophy

Our vision is to be the premier organization in North Texas certifying, developing, connecting and advocating for minority business engagement and inclusion resulting in economic growth and development in our communities.

We do this by being true to our mission of encouraging and facilitating business opportunities and engagement between Buying Entity members (corporations and public sector agencies) and certified ethnic minority-owned businesses).

In order to stay true to our vision and mission surrounding diversity and inclusion, we believe in adhering to the following key values:

Diversity and Inclusion – The Council understands the value inherent in the utilization of the talents available from varied cultures and avenues of thought. It is only by engaging in a world that is inclusionary that be can be our best selves – our whole selves – and the very best organization possible.

Respect – We value the contributions of our staff, our Buying Entity members and certified minority-businesses. Thus, we believe in treating everyone with respect and maintaining an environment that is free from ethnic, religious, racial, sexual or any other type of harassment. Harassment of any kind (verbal, written, pictorial or physical) is strictly forbidden.

Integrity, Honesty and Fairness – We conduct our business with honesty and fairness – not just in the letter of the law, but also in the spirit of the law, while keeping in mind the best interests of our constituents.

Accountability – The Council staff and Board of Directors is accountable to our constituents   deliver on our programs and services, be fiscal responsible for the organization and stay focused on our vision, mission and priorities. This means constituents can expect the very best in service. We know that a viable and productive team effort can increase the overall success of what we deliver, but we also know accountability ensures services are actually delivered successfully.

Confidentiality of Information — It is the Council’s policy to protect employee, organization, Buying Entity, and supplier confidential information. At no time are employees to share confidential information with other employees, clients or suppliers.  All employees, consultants and suppliers shall maintain the confidentiality of all Council, customer and supplier information, which he/she shall receive during their employment. Employees and consultants are not to disclose confidential information about any Buying Entity or supplier to any other customer or supplier.

Equal Employment and Procurement Opportunity — We believe the Council should reflect the community and the constituents we serve.  We understand that the long-term prospects of the community are better served by including diverse suppliers in the purchase of products and services.  In this light, we look to ensure that our employees and our purchases represent a cross section of the community. To provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all individuals, employment decisions are based on merit, experience, qualifications and abilities.
