Logisticorp
Group recently launched a podcast called “Supplying Success” that explores the
challenges and opportunities in the logistics and supply chain industry. The
title also aptly describes Amy Salazar-Hilborn, president and chief operating
officer of the Dallas, Texas-based logistics and supply chain company.
She is also
the first minority female executive and the first woman president of
Logisticorp, a testament to the company’s diverse and inclusive environment.
This atmosphere, the company said, enables employees to be at their best —
innovative and insightful — facilitating the high-quality execution and
required operational pivots needed to maintain long-standing customer
relationships and grow new high-value and high-volume accounts.”
Additionally,
six of Logisticorp’s top executive positions are all held by ethnic minorities,
including three other women.
Salazar-Hilborn
has held her position at the company — which celebrated its 25th anniversary
last year — since 2022. She oversees all operations and the overall financial
state of the company.
As a
tenured leader of the firm with over 17 years of experience working in key
roles to drive strategic priorities, Salazar-Hilborn brings important expertise
and perspectives to her role.
She joined
Logisticorp in 2008 as an accounting manager, and within a year was promoted to
director of accounting, which included oversight of human resources, payroll
and ledgers. Salazar-Hilborn successfully implemented an enterprise resource
planning (ERP) system and electronic data interchange (EDI) platform, and she
oversaw ISO 9001/TL9000 quality management certification.
By 2018,
she had elevated to vice president and chief quality officer. Along the way,
Salazar-Hilborn has held or directly managed every position at Logisticorp,
including ride-alongs with vehicle drivers.
She is
tasked with continuing Logisticorp’s legacy of being “a supply chain that you
can trust,” which is rooted in the company’s past leadership and its people
development. The company continues its
organic growth amid ever-changing market conditions, able to navigate the
various challenges that have presented themselves throughout the years.
This
history of high-performance — along with the support of long-standing customers
who share the same corporate and community values — is what allows Logisticorp
to have a strong community impact, including specific support to minority
business enterprises (MBEs) and women business enterprises (WBEs). As an MBE
itself, Logisticorp displays a strong commitment to continuously increase its
MBE-to-MBE expenditures, which includes 100% of its administrative and overhead
spend going to MBEs. In 2022, the company spent over $1 million with MBEs and
WBEs. And, it has exceeded Dallas Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development
Council’s (DFW MSDC) “One Percent Plus” initiative, which supports a 1%
increase in year-over-year spend” with diverse suppliers for the past six
years.
Community
impact
In addition
to the MBE and WBE spend, Logisticorp believes in giving back to local
communities. Salazar-Hilborn, for example, has been a board member of Exodus
Ministries — a nonprofit serving mothers in need — since 2020 and has served as
board chair since 2021. From its earliest years, Logisitcorp has been involved
in many community services in the DFW area. From membership in various
organizations to employees volunteering in financial literacy curriculums,
sponsoring the Firefighters Museum capital campaign, participating in DFW
MSDC’s annual ACCESS Business Expo program, and becoming a hiring partner for
various ‘return to work’ programs, the company supports several social and
educational programs that improve the lives of the people living in these areas.
“Our
membership in these organizations enables us to connect with diverse suppliers,
businesses and communities, allowing Logisticorp to tap into a wealth of
knowledge and experience to drive innovation and improve decision-making,”
Salazar-Hilborn said. “We believe that through these partnerships, we help
create a more inclusive and equitable business ecosystem that benefits
everyone.”
“Supplying
Success” is an example of Logisticorp’s educational endeavors. The podcast
offers practical advice, inspiring stories and thought-provoking insights from
industry leaders and experts. The series not only informs general industry
audiences, but also is referenced by the company’s staff — helping keep the
workforce up to date on the latest trends and best practices shaping the
industry.
