Inaugural energy summit to look at helping shape nation’s energy future

The 2022 Energy Summit will take place in the Nation’s oldest Capitol City, Santa Fe, and the first minority/majority state in the contiguous United States. New Mexico has long embraced “native” in its diverse population, which includes 48% Hispanic and 12% Native American and in its native natural resources, as the third-largest oil producer and ninth-largest natural gas producer and New Mexico is a leader in wind and solar energy.

The potential for electricity generation from wind is enormous as New Mexico ranked 13th amongst states in wind production, and New Mexico’s climate is typified by abundant sunshine, as the state is one of the top three in the nation with the best solar energy potential.

New Mexico is a natural energy hub and the perfect backdrop for the 2022 Energy Summit and as multiple transition pathways emerge, those pathways need to reflect the increasing need for diversity in energy systems. The Summit aims to spark dialogue on the critical issues affecting the energy sector, including the demands of diverse human assets blended with the supply of various natural resource assets. “What got us here won't get us there” as we acknowledge our country's current and future demographics in shaping our energy future.
