University looking to raise nearly $2 million for new scholarship initiative

Virginia Tech is looking to raise a nearly $2 million scholarship fund in memory of Janie Hoge. The Janie Hoge Memorial Scholarship Fund honors Hoge, who starting in 1953, welcomed Black students into her home so they could attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute, now Virginia Tech.

While the school accepted Black students, they were not allowed to live, eat or use non-academic amenities on campus. To learn more about Hoge, visit  https://vtx.vt.edu/articles/2020/08/unirel-hoge.html?utm_source=cmpgn_news&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=vtUnirelNewsDailyCMP_082620-fs.
