USHCC names 2024 award winners

During its 45th Annual USHCC National Conference, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce announced this year’s award winners. The Chamber said the honorees represent “the MVPs and game-changers who have transformed the Hispanic business landscape … these powerhouse players [are] driving innovation, empowering communities and shaping our nation's economic future.”

The honorees were recognized in an awards gala during the conference. They were:

·       Cástulo de la Rocha, president and CEO, AltaMed, earned the Ohtli Award, one of the highest honors given by the Mexican government to individuals who have dedicated their lives to helping and empowering Mexican communities abroad. It recognizes significant contributions to community leadership, advocacy and efforts to preserve Mexican culture. Rocha was honored for his lifelong commitment to serve and provide essential health services to the most vulnerable communities in California.

Chambers of the Year:

·       Small Category: First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

·       Medium Category: Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

·       Large Category: Maryland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Individual Categories:

·       Hispanic Businessperson of the Year: Mercedes Enrique, president, CMS Corp.

·       LGBTQ+ Advocate of the Year: Daneya Esgar, Pueblo County Commissioner Colorado 

·       Hispanic Veteran-Owned Business of the Year: Richard Fierro, co-owner, Atrevida Beer Co.

Other honorees were:

·       Corporation of the Year: Toyota Motor North America Inc.

·       Educational Fund Advocate of the Year: Sharu Goodwyn, senior manager, community investment, ODP Corp.

·       Hector Barreto Sr. "Con Ganas" Award: Jeanette Prenger, founder and CEO, Ecco Select Corp.
